Why choose us

Benefits of Preventive Dentistry

Catch Problems Early

Regular exams help us find decay and gum issues while they are small and simpler to treat.

Cleaner, Healthier Gums

Our hygienists remove plaque and tartar that brushing and flossing at home can miss.

Protect Existing Dental Work

Routine checkups help us look after your crowns, bridges, dentures and implants so they keep working well.

Same Dentist Every Visit

You see Dr. Buitrago each time, so he knows your history and notices changes over time.

Care for Every Generation

We see teens, adults and seniors, so parents and grandparents can keep their care in one office.

Preventive dentistry is the routine care that keeps teeth, gums, and existing dental work healthy, and at Advanced Dentistry of Coral Springs we provide it for teens, adults, and seniors. In everyday terms, it is the difference between a short, predictable cleaning visit and an unexpected toothache on a busy weekday. Small problems are usually simpler to handle when they are caught early, and regular visits give us the chance to look before something starts to hurt.

Preventive care at our office centers on two things: a dental cleaning with our hygienist and a dental exam with Dr. Renan Buitrago. The cleaning removes buildup from places a toothbrush and floss tend to miss. The exam is where Dr. Buitrago checks your teeth, gums, and any crowns, bridges, partials, or dentures you already have. Because we are a solo practice, you see the same dentist at every visit, so changes from one appointment to the next are easier to notice.

This care helps a wide range of patients. A busy parent may want to stay ahead of small cavities. A retiree may wear a partial and want to be sure the teeth holding it stay healthy. A teen may simply need a steady routine. If an exam does turn up a concern, such as a cavity that needs a filling or signs of gum disease, we can usually treat it here in the same office.

If you already have dental work, preventive visits matter even more. Crowns, bridges, implants, and dentures all depend on healthy gums and supporting teeth. Dr. Buitrago is a prosthodontist, a dentist with three additional years of specialty training in replacing and restoring teeth. During your exam, he looks closely at how your restorations fit and function, not only at your natural teeth.

Gum health is another key topic. If your gums show signs of trouble, we may recommend scaling and root planing, a deeper cleaning below the gumline. Patients who have been treated for gum disease often move to periodontal maintenance, a cleaning schedule designed to help keep the condition under control. Tell us about any bleeding, tenderness, or loose teeth so we can plan the right type of cleaning for you.

How often should I come in for preventive care?

The right schedule depends on your mouth, and we set it with you after your exam. Many patients keep a regular routine of cleanings and exams, while others need closer follow-up because of gum concerns or extensive dental work.

We base our recommendation on what we see, including your gum health, your history of cavities, and the restorations you rely on. If your needs change over time, your schedule can change too. Our goal is a plan you can keep, because consistent visits are what make prevention work.

What can I do at home between visits?

Your daily habits carry most of the work between appointments. Our team will give you practical guidance based on what we see in your mouth, and a few habits help almost everyone:

  • Brush gently twice a day, paying attention to the gumline
  • Clean between your teeth daily, including around bridges and implants
  • Clean dentures or partials each day as we instruct
  • Call us if you notice bleeding gums, sensitivity, or a loose or broken restoration

Results from preventive care build gradually. Patients who keep up with home care and regular visits often find their appointments become more routine. If something does go wrong between visits, such as a broken tooth or sudden pain, we offer emergency dental appointments, so you can call us instead of waiting for your next cleaning.

How can I pay for preventive dentistry?

We accept all major PPO insurance plans, and our front office team can help you understand how your plan applies to cleanings and exams. Many plans include preventive benefits, so it is worth asking us to check before your visit.

We also welcome self-pay patients. For treatment that comes up during an exam, such as fillings or gum therapy, we offer financing through CareCredit, including 0% and low-interest options, and we accept all major credit cards. We will review costs with you before any treatment begins so you can decide what works for you.

Where do I start?

Start by calling our office to schedule a cleaning and exam. Patients come to us from Coral Springs, Parkland, Coconut Creek, Margate, Tamarac, and other nearby communities. Our office is at 2232 N University Drive, Suite B, Coral Springs, FL 33071.

At your first visit, bring a list of your medications and any questions about your teeth or dental work. We will take the time to explain what we find and what we recommend, in plain language. We look forward to helping you keep your smile healthy for years to come.
