Flexible Ways to Pay

A dental filling repairs a tooth that has been weakened by a cavity, a small chip, or wear, and it is one of the most common ways we help teens, adults, and seniors keep their natural teeth working day to day. A cavity rarely announces itself early. You might notice a twinge with cold water, food catching in the same spot, or a rough edge your tongue keeps finding. Treating that spot while it is still small is usually simpler than waiting until it becomes a larger problem.

A filling replaces the part of a tooth that decay or damage has compromised. Dr. Renan Buitrago removes the weakened area, cleans and shapes the space, and then fills it so the tooth can handle chewing and stay sealed against bacteria. The goal is to stop the damage where it is and keep as much healthy tooth as possible.

Fillings help a wide range of patients. A teenager may have a first cavity found during a routine exam. A working adult may have an older filling that has cracked or worn down. A grandparent may have decay forming near the gumline or around existing dental work. Each situation is different, and the approach is planned around the tooth in front of us.

At Advanced Dentistry of Coral Springs, you see the same doctor at every visit. Dr. Buitrago is a prosthodontist, which means a dentist with three additional years of specialty training in replacing and restoring teeth. That background shapes how he looks at even a small filling: how it fits your bite, how it relates to nearby teeth, and how it supports the long-term health of your mouth.

If a tooth has more damage than a filling can reasonably support, we will tell you plainly. Because we also provide crowns, root canal therapy, and other restorative care in-house, we can talk through your options in one place without sending you elsewhere for a second opinion.

How do I know if I need a filling?

The clearest way to know is a dental exam, because many cavities are found before they cause any discomfort. During routine cleanings and exams, our team and Dr. Buitrago look for early signs of decay, worn or broken fillings, and small fractures.

Some signs are worth calling about sooner:

  • Sensitivity to cold, heat, or sweets in one area
  • Food repeatedly getting stuck between the same teeth
  • A rough, sharp, or chipped edge on a tooth
  • A filling that feels loose, cracked, or different than before
  • A dark spot or hole you can see or feel

If a tooth suddenly breaks or starts to hurt, we offer emergency dental appointments, so you do not have to wait for your next checkup.

What should I know before getting a filling?

Most fillings are completed in a single visit, and you can usually return to your normal day afterward. Before we begin, Dr. Buitrago will explain what he sees, which tooth or teeth need care, and why. You are always welcome to ask questions before anything starts.

If dental visits make you anxious, let us know when you book. We offer oral sedation for patients who would feel more at ease with it, and we can discuss whether it makes sense for you. It also helps to share any changes in your health or medications, since that information helps us plan safe, comfortable care.

How do I care for my filling afterward?

You care for a filled tooth much like the rest of your teeth: brush twice a day, clean between your teeth daily, and keep up with regular checkups. If your mouth was numbed, wait until the feeling returns before chewing so you do not bite your cheek or tongue.

Some patients notice mild sensitivity for a short time after a filling. If your bite feels high, uneven, or uncomfortable, call us so we can check and adjust it. Over time, fillings can wear like any part of your mouth. Routine exams with our hygienist and Dr. Buitrago let us keep an eye on your fillings and address small changes before they turn into bigger repairs.

How can I pay for a dental filling?

We accept all major PPO insurance plans, and our team can help you understand how your coverage applies before treatment. We also welcome self-pay patients.

To make care easier to fit into your budget, we offer CareCredit, 0% and low-interest financing options, and accept all major credit cards. If you have questions about costs, ask our front office team. They will walk you through your choices clearly so there are no surprises.

When should I schedule a visit?

The best time to schedule is as soon as you notice a change, or if it has been a while since your last exam. Small cavities are generally easier to treat than ones left to grow.
