Full mouth rehabilitation is a coordinated plan to rebuild most or all of the teeth in both jaws, and we provide it for adults and seniors whose dental problems have spread beyond a single tooth. A typical patient has several worn or broken teeth, an older bridge that has failed, a partial that no longer fits, and chewing that has slowly become uncomfortable. Each issue could be treated one at a time. When they affect each other, though, a single plan usually makes more sense. At Advanced Dentistry of Coral Springs, Dr. Renan Buitrago plans and restores these cases himself in our office on North University Drive.
Full mouth rehabilitation is not one procedure. It combines the restorative treatments a mouth needs, sequenced so that each step supports the next. Depending on the case, a plan may include crowns, bridges, porcelain veneers, fillings, root canal therapy, gum disease treatment, extractions, bone grafting, dental implants, implant-supported bridges, or complete and partial dentures. The goal is a bite that works as a whole, with teeth and replacements that fit together when you chew and speak.
Because every case is different, the starting point is a careful exam and a review of how your teeth meet. Someone with heavily worn teeth may need their bite rebuilt with crowns. Someone missing several teeth may be better served by implant-supported options or a well-made denture. Many plans combine both. Since our office has an on-site dental lab, the work can be shaped and adjusted close to where it will be fitted.
Dr. Buitrago is a prosthodontist, a dentist with three additional years of specialty training in replacing and restoring teeth. He earned dental degrees from Pontificia Universidad Javeriana in 2000 and New York University in 2008, completed NYU's advanced program in prosthodontics and dental implants, and finished a three-year prosthodontics residency at New York Hospital Queens, affiliated with Cornell University. He received the Gersten Award and has owned this Coral Springs practice since 2014.
For you, this means the dentist who designs your plan is the same dentist who carries it out. You see Dr. Buitrago at every visit. Complex restorative work is planned and completed in-house rather than being referred elsewhere. You do not need a referral to schedule.
Am I a candidate for full mouth rehabilitation?
You may be a candidate if problems throughout your mouth are affecting how you eat, speak, or feel about your teeth. Patients often come to us in situations like these:
- Many teeth are worn down, cracked, or heavily filled
- Several teeth are missing, or existing bridges and partials have failed
- Dentures feel loose and you want to explore implant-supported dentures
- Gum disease has weakened the support around remaining teeth
- You want both function and appearance addressed through a smile-design consultation
Before treatment begins, any active gum disease or infection usually needs attention. Some patients need extractions or bone grafting to prepare for implants, and these are steps we can carry out here. If you feel anxious about dental visits, ask about oral sedation, which we offer for appropriate patients.
Treatment is often done in phases over a series of visits. Dr. Buitrago will explain which steps come first, why they are ordered that way, and which choices are available for each area of your mouth. Many patients appreciate having options at different levels of complexity before deciding.
What does aftercare look like once treatment is finished?
Aftercare focuses on keeping your new restorations and your natural teeth healthy through daily home care and regular professional visits. Crowns, bridges, implants, and dentures all depend on healthy gums and supporting bone. Brushing, cleaning between teeth and around implants, and caring for any removable appliance as directed are part of the routine.
Our hygienist provides cleanings, and patients with a history of gum disease may be placed on a periodontal maintenance schedule. During exams, Dr. Buitrago checks how your restorations are holding up and how your bite is functioning. If a denture needs repair or replacement down the road, we handle that in our office as well. Results vary from person to person, which is why ongoing follow-up matters.
How can I pay for full mouth rehabilitation?
We accept all major PPO insurance plans and file claims on your behalf, and we also welcome self-pay patients. Because full mouth rehabilitation is often completed in phases, costs can sometimes be spread across stages of treatment. Your plan will outline each step so you can review it before starting.
For the balance, we offer CareCredit, 0% and low-interest financing options, and all major credit cards. Our team can walk you through your coverage and financing choices during your visit.
If several dental problems have been building up, a single, well-sequenced plan can bring clarity. We invite you to schedule a consultation with Dr. Buitrago at 2232 N University Drive, Suite B, Coral Springs, FL 33071. Patients visit us from Coral Springs, Parkland, Coconut Creek, Margate, Tamarac, and nearby communities, and we look forward to meeting you.
