Our on-site dental lab lets us handle many fine-tuning steps and repairs right here in Coral Springs.

An implant-supported denture is a full or partial denture that attaches to dental implants placed in the jaw. It is for adults and seniors who are missing most or all of their teeth, or who already wear a denture that slips. For many people, the difference shows up at the dinner table, in conversation, and in the simple confidence of not thinking about their teeth all day. At Advanced Dentistry of Coral Springs, Dr. Renan Buitrago plans, places, and restores these dentures in our office on North University Drive. You see the same doctor at every visit.

A conventional denture rests on the gums and is held by suction or adhesive. An implant-supported denture connects to a small number of implants that act like anchors in the jawbone. Depending on the design, the denture may snap onto attachments and come out for cleaning, or it may be secured more firmly. Dr. Buitrago will explain which approach fits your mouth and your goals.

This treatment helps many kinds of patients. Some have worn a lower denture for years and are tired of it moving when they eat. Others are facing the loss of their remaining teeth and want a steadier option from the start. Some patients have a partial denture and need a sturdier plan as more teeth fail. Because we also make conventional complete and partial dentures, implant-supported bridges, and full-arch restorations, we can compare options honestly with you.

Dr. Buitrago is a prosthodontist, a dentist with three additional years of specialty training in replacing and restoring teeth. He earned his DDS from Pontificia Universidad Javeriana in 2000 and from New York University in 2008. He completed NYU's advanced program in prosthodontics and dental implants. He then finished a three-year prosthodontics residency at New York Hospital Queens, affiliated with Cornell University. He is a recipient of the Gersten Award and has owned this Coral Springs practice since 2014.

That training matters because a denture on implants is a mechanical system as much as a set of teeth. The bite, the position of each implant, and the fit of the denture all have to work together. Here, one specialist designs the plan and completes the restoration. Our on-site dental lab also lets us handle adjustments and repairs close to home.

Am I a candidate for implant-supported dentures?

Many adults missing most or all of their teeth are candidates, but the answer depends on your bone, gums, and overall health. Dr. Buitrago starts with an exam and imaging to see how much bone is available where implants would go. Situations we commonly evaluate include:

  • A loose lower denture that makes chewing difficult
  • Several failing teeth that may need to be removed
  • A partial denture that no longer has enough support
  • Bone loss after years without teeth

If bone has thinned, bone grafting may be part of the plan. If gum disease is present, we treat it first so the foundation is healthy. When teeth need to come out, we can perform simple and surgical extractions in our office.

Some patients feel anxious about dental surgery. We offer oral sedation, and Dr. Buitrago will walk you through each step before anything begins. Plans can also be staged over time when that makes more sense for your health or schedule.

How do I care for implant-supported dentures?

You care for them with daily cleaning at home and regular professional visits. If your denture is removable, you take it out to brush it and clean around the implant attachments. If it is fixed, our hygienist will show you how to clean underneath it with the right tools.

Routine checkups let us examine the implants, the gums around them, and the parts that hold the denture in place. Attachments can wear with normal use, and the fit may need to be adjusted over the years. Because we repair and replace dentures and have a lab in the office, that upkeep stays with the same doctor who built your restoration. Results depend on your health, your home care, and how consistently you keep these visits.

How can I pay for implant-supported dentures?

We accept all major PPO insurance plans and file claims for you, and we also welcome self-pay patients. Coverage for implants and dentures varies widely, so our team will review your benefits and give you a clear treatment estimate before you decide.

To help spread out the cost, we offer CareCredit, 0% and low-interest financing options, and all major credit cards. Staging treatment in phases is another way some patients plan around their budget.
